With more and more people becoming conscious and aware about what they eat and put into their bodies, the demand for healthier foods is increasing. This increase in consumer consciousness may be directly related to the ever expanding body of evidence that proves organic foods are healthier and more nutritious. All while the genetically modified counterparts and the pesticides used along with them are proving to be more dangerous for the environment and deadly for people all the time.
Winter is coming! That means cold and flu season will be coming right along with it. Yes, that dreaded time of year where runny noses and coughs run rampant throughout work places, schools and supermarkets. When liquid hand sanitizer is used as if it were holy water to expel these evil flu demons. This is also the time of year a lot of antibiotics are prescribed and lots of over-the-counter cold and flu medicines are sold. These antibiotics can devastate your healthy gut bacteria, which can cause all sorts of health problems. The over-the-counter cold medicines are very popular and readily available. While some may think this is a great thing, it has lead to the abuse and misuse of these medicines by both adults and teenagers alike. Luckily these things can all be avoided through the power of mother natures herbal plant medicines!
Its been well documented that those who have been diagnosed with "Celiac Disease" cannot consume foods that contain gluten in them. This is a serious autoimmune disorder that can occur in genetically predisposed people where the ingestion of gluten leads to damage in the small intestine. It is estimated to affect 1 in 100 people worldwide. Two and one-half million Americans are undiagnosed and are at risk for long-term health complications. So, what exactly is this gluten stuff, where does it come from, and are only those with celiac disease effected by it?

Many of us know that the worlds leading cause of mortality in developed and developing countries is cardiovascular disease (CVD). But do we know why? For many years scientists and doctors have pointed to the fact that Dyslipidemia, high low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C or "Bad" Cholesterol), triglyceride concentrations, and low high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C or "Good" Cholesterol) concentrations are associated with elevated CVD risk. This is what lead many doctors to attack dietary cholesterol, citing it as the source of high LDL levels, which could lead to CVD. In doesn't stop there, saturated fats have also been under fire for causing high LDL levels.
But is this actually the case? Can eating foods high in dietary cholesterol and saturated fats really lead to cardiovascular disease? I will answer all these questions and more, based on my research and the latest studies available, to find out all there is to know about cholesterol. The good, the bad, and the healthy!

We all have days where we are a little moody and don't quite feel like ourselves. Sometimes it's is because of certain events that can be traced back to the source. Other times however, we are left in the dark, wondering why we feel the way to do. This results in many people getting prescribed pharmaceutical drugs to fix something that might be able to be fixed through your gut. Thats right your gut. Studies have shown gut microbiota that interact with brain regions associated with mood and behavior. Lack of these beneficial bacteria have also been linked behavioral disorders like anxiety. As well as neurodegeneration in the brain in the form of Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases.
